Flavor Profile
2018 was a phenomenal vintage, perfectly encapsulated in this block selection of three of our favorite barrels in the cellar. Enticing aromatics evolve in the glass, offering notes of dark fruits, baking spices, leather and cocoa. On the palate the wine’s lush silkiness is perfectly balanced by its natural acidity, creating a freshness and tension even beyond what is typically found in mountain Cabernets. Long on the finish, the wine moves from fruity to savory—the perfect complement to dinner or simply contemplation. Powerful now in its youth, this wine will age beautifully over the next three decades.
- Vineyard Notes
The grapes from Block B2 were hand harvested at night in order to retain freshness and get the fruit in the cellar as cool as possible. The wine was vinified with classic Bordeaux techniques—wild yeast fermentation began after 5 days of cold soak and reached peak temperature of 90°F. After 15 days of maceration, the wine was drained directly to barrel to complete spontaneous malolactic fermentation. The wine was bottled unfined and unfiltered.
