Flavor Profile

Profile is a blend of many of our finest lots of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc, chosen for their concentration, depth of flavor and fine tannin structure. This wine was aged in mostly new French oak chateau ferre barrels and bottled unfiltered. It is opulently structured and very dark.

  • Vineyard Notes

Merryvale Estate, Beckstoffer-Vineyard Georges III, X, ToKalon and Las Amigas; Oak Creek.

  • From Potentially Outstanding: Wine Spectator: " “Tight and tannic, intense...

“… and concentrated, offering rich mineral, anise, currant and black cherry fruit, with toasty oak and coffee scents. Turns smooth and polished; should be tremendous.” – James Laube [92-94 POINTS]

  • From Wine Spectator : "This wine combines firm, ripe...

“… complex fruit with excellent structure. The core flavors are centered around a mix of currant, black cherry and plum and the acidity and tannins are in the right proportion, giving it a resemblance to a fine Bordeaux. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2012. 3,050 cases made.”  – James Laube [90 POINTS]

  • From Wine & Spirits: "Steve Test blends this from...

“… eight vineyards, including Merryvale Estate, Beckstoffer-Georges III, VI, X and ToKalon, to create a bright red modulated by earthy, mineral tannins. The flavors layer red cherry with herbs and the dark fruit of wild mushrooms. That distinctive herbal complexity will meld with roast partridge.”  – Tasting Panel [92 POINTS]

  • From Wine Spectator: "‘A look ahead’ includes...

“… ratings for a ‘handpicked group of wines’ that he tastes on a yearly basis.”  – James Laube [ 89-91 POINTS]

  • From The Miami Herlad: "When taste, like love, is blind...

“… which talked about the comparative tasting held in Miami. Ranked number 8, but worthy of the highly recommended category… 2002 Profile: oak and red berry aromas; flavors of raspberries, cherries and coffee; medium body; long finish.”  – Fred Tasker [Highly Recommended]
