Flavor Profile

Aromas of dark sweet cherry, black currant, dark plum, and finely integrated baking spice and toast. The very sweet, exuberant fruit is complemented by notes of rose petals, almond toffee, vanilla and cedarwood. Sweet black fruit on the entry opens to a rich, velvety mid-palate. The weight and concentration in this wine are balanced by flavors of dark ripe cherry, berry and plum, along with cocoa and spice. The oak is well integrated and seamlessly supports the weight of the fruit. This refined and structured wine is framed by nice acidity, a long finish and very fine tannins. Decant this wine in its youth, it will reach a nice level of complexity 8-10 years from vintage, and with proper cellaring it will continue to develop over the next 10+ years.

  • Vineyard Notes

This 29th vintage of our Profile proprietary red blend continues to showcase the very best fruit from the harvest. Traditionally, comprised from top vineyard sites in our portfolio from throughout the Napa Valley, this vintage is sourced exclusively from our gorgeous hillside Profile Estate Vineyard located east of St. Helena. Although the 2012 harvest was excellent throughout the Napa Valley, we found in our blending trials that our estate lots of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot stood head and shoulders above the rest. The phenolic development in this vineyard is truly outstanding and showcased in the wine’s elegance and very fine tannin structure.

… red currants, as well as some incense and camphor jump from the glass of this stunningly proportioned, complex wine. I think of it as a gracious and somewhat restrained, but authoritative Napa Red Wine. It should drink well for 12-15+ years.” —Robert Parker, Jr. [92 POINTS]

  • FROM WINE ENTHUSIAST: "...SLOWLY UNLACING...

… faint baking spices and rose. This wine is jammy, with a plushness of oak and weight. It offers a structure and power dotted in cedar, tar and leather, finishing in pleasing waves of coconut and chocolate.”  —Virginie Boone [92 POINTS]
