Flavor Profile
This F1 Block Series bottling offers a very intense nose that begins with notes of game, cherries and ripe black currant. In the mouth, it opens with floral notes, a touch of sweetness and some very savory fine-grained tannins. The wine has plenty of fruit and intensity, and shows the distinctive personality and character of this outstanding vineyard block. It will evolve very nicely for the next 20 years but is very pleasing and drinkable on release.
- Vineyard Notes
Block F1 was picked on September 13th early in the morning. The fruit was double sorted and fermented in a 4-ton tank. The tank was gravity filled and after a 5-day cold soak the fermentation started with native yeast and peaked at 90°F. The wine stayed on skins for 18 days and was then drained into barrels where malolactic fermentation occurred. The wine was racked four times while in barrels and bottled unfined and unfiltered.
