Flavor Profile
Brilliant dark ruby color. An early harvest but with a perfect balance of sugar, flavor and tannin maturities. Aromas of toasted vanilla, cassis and spice are very concentrated and very dominant. On the palate the wine explodes with fruit (cassis and blackberry) and concentrated flavors. Classic flavors of cassis dominate with a rich and round vanilla/spice quality. This wine is rich and silky with elegant tannins and a long, long finish.
- Vineyard Notes
Spottswoode Vineyard, Staglin Family Vineyard, Tilting Rock Vineyard and Caldwell Vineyard
- From RobertParker.com: "The 1990 Profile exhibits loads of rich...
… cassis fruit combined with scents of minerals and spice. The tannin is more aggressive than in the 1991, but there is no doubting the wine’s rich, concentrated, full-bodied style that is both stylish and intense… It should age for two decades.” —Robert Parker, Jr. [90+ POINTS]
- From Wine Spectator: "Fleshy and forward with ripe, generous plum,
… currant and black cherry flavors that are rich and plush. Tannins are firm but rounded. Good Concentration and balance.” In group rated: Outstanding (90-94) —James Laube [90+ POINTS]
