Flavor Profile
Brilliant dark ruby color. Concentrated cherries, cassis, and vanilla with a background of cedar and mint. Upon tasting, the wine exhibits a very full, yet velvety mouth feel with good richness, moderate tannins and a round, full finish with lingering blackberry flavor.
- Vineyard Notes
Spottswoode Vineyard, Staglin Family Vineyard, Tilting Rock Vineyard and Caldwell Vineyard
- From Wine & Spirits: "Heady, pure fruit aromas...
… award some aeration of this young, tough wine. Very tannic on the palate, but it has obvious breed, with well-integrated oak and plenty of black cherry fruit. Open in three years, though it’s sure to age beyond.” [92 POINTS, CELLAR COLLECTION]
- From the San Francisco Chronicle: "This is a good wine to start the new year.
… It’s a rich, warming wine with concentrated fruit, including black cherries, as well as a touch of mint and just a hint of chocolate. Overall, there’s a lively gracefulness that makes the wine just plain fun to drink. The rich velvety finish matches perfectly with wintry dishes like cassoulet or roast lamb.” —Larry Walker [WINE OF THE WEEK]
